Important Issues

Get San Diegans Back to Work.  George Plescia has a proven record of fighting to strengthen our economy by supporting policies designed to create new jobs and protect the ones we have from leaving to other states or countries.  George has a proven record of fighting to reduce burdensome regulations that threaten job expansion in California and is committed to meaningful regulatory reform to put people back to work.

Real Pension Reform. George Plescia understands that California’s $500 billion unfunded liability threatens taxpayers and the pensions of millions of hard working Californians.  George supports Governor Brown’s pension reform plan to reduce the unfunded liability, cut costs for taxpayers, eliminate pension abuse, and prevents public officials convicted of a felony while on the job from collecting a pension beginning at the date of conviction.

Stop Growing Government.  Despite recent proclamations of cuts being made by the legislature, the fact remains that spending remains out of control. The Sacramento politicians spend too much of our tax dollars on programs such as expanding welfare by reducing work requirements and early release of prisoners yet they want to raise our taxes. That’s why George supports a cap on state spending that limits spending to inflation and population, pays down debt while protecting education spendin

Investing in Public Safety. Keeping our children safe is George’s top priority not just as a public servant, but also as a father. George believes the Governor’s so called prisoner realignment poses significant risks to public safety.  By reducing parole, and in some cases early release for criminals, the politicians have made the shift from state prison facilities to county facilities that much riskier.  Not only does George oppose early release and the Governor’s realignment, his record includes expanding Megan’s Law because he believes sexual offenders who prey on our children deserve the stiffest penalties.

Investing in our Children’s Classrooms. George would have voted against the trigger cuts recently passed by the legislature.  Rather than reducing our school year and the elimination of the successful Cal Grant program, George would have supported reductions in other areas of our state budget to protect education funding.  Moreover, George supports innovative solutions to educations such as charter schools and school vouchers to allow students in low performance schools the ability to transfer to successful schools.

Stimulating our Economy and Protecting Taxpayers.  George has proven his commitment to California’s job creators and small business owners time and again.  Whether you look at his efforts to provide Research and Development tax credits to help expand our leading bio-tech and high tech industries or his efforts to provide a $3000 tax credit for every employee small businesses hire, it’s clear George understands the need to expand our economy.
